Anti-wrinkle Cream??

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great week! Last week Mommy and Daddy were supposed to go to the Sonographer to make sure I am doing well and to find out if I am a boy or a girl. Unfortunately, the Dr had a family emergency and we had to move our appointment to a later date. Mommy and Daddy were pretty disappointed, but Mommy said it's probably better 'cause Daddy wouldn't be able to be quiet about it until the big reveal Mommy has planned anyway. Plus, this gives Mommy some time to practice her sewing skills (since she wants to make my baby quilt) on my first onsies.

This week, Mommy should have gained around seven to ten pounds from her initial pre-pregnancy weight... we will have to check on that weight gain at the next Dr appointment, but she's been on the lower side of the weight gain estimates the last few visits.

This week I am about the size of a mango and a little over half a pound and Mommy is feeling the weight and seeing the bump on her belly grow almost overnight!
Take a look:

I am now covered in a velveta cheesy type of covering called vernix caseosa-- made of my lanugo, that baby fur I told you about before, oil, and dead skin cells. It doesn't sound too cute, I know, but it helps protect me from the nine month bath I'm getting... think about what you look like after an hour in the tub, all wrinkly and prune-like and compare that to being in the tub for NINE months! You wouldn't look too cute, either! A cuter way to think of it is like anti-wrinkle cream... everyone loves that stuff!

My arms and legs are finally in proportion to my body and my nervous system has connected my brain and muscles. My bones are starting to harden as well. All of these things combined equals one busy me! Since I have more control over my body now, I've been exercising, kicking, punching, and stretching out. Mommy is feeling me move almost every-other-day now... she finds when she is reclined a bit she can feel me a lot better than when she's walking, standing, or laying down.

I am still growing! By the time that I arrive into the world, I will have grown more than 15 times the size I am now! My brain is growing, too... perfecting my sense of smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. I heard Daddy sing for the first time last week. Mommy said it was an inappropriate song about how I came to be by a band called Tenacious D... I don't really know what he was singing, but I liked hearing his voice! Though I am growing, I am still skinny because I haven't accumulated a lot of fat, yet. But I will be gaining more fat now, so when I arrive I will be all nice and cuddly!

If I am a girl, I already have about six million eggs (that's a lot) in my ovaries, but I will probably be born with less, around four million (that's still a lot of eggs). If I am a boy, my testes will soon start their descent into my scrotum (I think Mommy's love for science is kicking in, because I really don't even know what all of these words mean... but I'm sure I will learn one day!)

This weekend we will be celebrating Independence Day and I think this is the weekend when Mommy and Daddy will announce if I am a boy or a girl. They are so excited to find out and will have two chances by the end of the week to find out. If I'm a boy, Daddy will need to go out and get me a baseball glove so we can practice asap! If I'm a girl I guess he better start to practice cleaning his gun in a menacing way. What am I gonna Bee??

See you all next week!
